Blacklist

Block addresses from transfers

Fee: 0.001 ETH (mainnet)

Connect your EVM wallet to use this tool.

What the blacklist tool does

A blacklist blocks named addresses from transferring your token. Projects use it against sniper bots and known bad actors, but it is a centralised control that scanners report, so it deserves an explicit explanation in your documentation.

  • Blocks transfers for individual addresses while leaving everyone else unaffected.
  • Only available on contracts deployed with blacklist support, and callable only by the owner.
  • Reversible: removing an address restores its ability to transfer.
  • Every change is a public transaction, so blacklisting is not a quiet action.
  • Token scanners flag blacklist functions as a centralisation risk — say why yours exists.

How to use the ERC-20 blacklist tool

  1. Connect as owner

Connect the owner wallet on the contract's network.

  2. Enter the address

Provide the address to block or unblock and verify it carefully.

  3. Confirm

Approve the transaction to apply the change.

Blacklist FAQ

01Is a blacklist a red flag for investors?

Many treat it as one, because it means the owner can freeze specific holders. If you keep the function, publish the policy for when it is used — and consider renouncing ownership once launch defence is no longer needed.

02Can I blacklist an address after it already sold?

Blacklisting only prevents future transfers. It cannot reverse completed trades or recover funds already moved.

03How do I permanently disable the blacklist?

Renounce ownership. The function stays in the bytecode but becomes uncallable forever.
