What the pause / unpause tool does

A Pausable ERC-20 lets the owner halt every transfer at once. It exists as an emergency brake for exploits or misconfigured launches — and because it is a centralised power, holders and auditors treat a live pause function as a risk worth disclosing.

  • Pausing blocks all transfers, including swaps, for every holder simultaneously.
  • Only available if the contract was deployed as Pausable, and callable only by the owner.
  • Unpausing restores normal operation immediately.
  • Widely flagged by token scanners as centralised control, so disclose it rather than let holders discover it.
  • Renouncing ownership disables the pause function permanently.

Only for a genuine emergency, such as an exploit in an integrated contract or a launch misconfiguration you are actively fixing. Pausing a live market strands traders and destroys confidence quickly.

02Does pausing affect the liquidity pool?

Yes. Swaps are transfers, so the pool stops working for your token while the contract is paused.

03How do I remove the pause capability?

Renounce ownership. That makes pause and unpause permanently uncallable, which some communities require before they will treat a token as trustless.
