Transfer Authority

Transfer mint or freeze authority to another wallet.

Connect your Solana wallet to use this tool.

What the transfer authority tool does

Authorities are the addresses allowed to mint new supply or freeze holder accounts. Transferring them hands that power to a different wallet — a team multisig, a DAO, or a program — while the mint address and all balances stay exactly as they are.

  • Transfers mint authority (who can create new supply) or freeze authority (who can freeze holder accounts) independently.
  • Common destination is a multisig, so no single key can inflate the supply.
  • Only the current authority holder can transfer it, and the change is immediate once confirmed.
  • Nothing about the token itself changes: same mint address, same supply, same holders.
  • If you want the power gone rather than moved, revoke it instead — a transfer keeps it alive at the new address.

How to use the Solana transfer authority tool

  1. Select your token

Choose a mint your connected wallet currently controls.

  2. Choose which authority

Pick mint authority or freeze authority. They are separate and can live at different addresses.

  3. Enter the new authority address

Paste the destination address and check it character by character. A transfer to a wrong address cannot be undone.

  4. Confirm

Approve in your wallet. The new address holds that authority from that block onward.

Transfer Authority FAQ

01Can I get the authority back after transferring it?

Only if the new holder transfers it back. From your side the change is one-way, which is why the destination address deserves a careful second look.

02Should I transfer to a multisig?

For any project with a treasury or a roadmap that needs future minting, yes. A multisig removes the single point of failure of one hot wallet holding the power to inflate supply.

03Does transferring authority affect holders?

No balances or addresses change. What changes is who could mint or freeze in future, which is exactly what holders are checking when they look at a mint on an explorer.
