What the pause token tool does

Pausing stops all transfers of a regulated Sui coin at once. Like every global pause, it is an emergency measure: it protects against an active exploit but strands ordinary holders, so it should be used sparingly and disclosed openly.

  • Blocks all transfers of the coin, including DEX swaps, while active.
  • Requires a regulated coin deployment and the corresponding capability.
  • Unpausing restores normal transfers immediately.
  • A live pause capability is a disclosed centralisation risk.

How to use the Sui pause token tool

  1. Connect the capability owner

    Connect the wallet holding the coin's pause capability.

  2. Choose pause or resume

    Select the action appropriate to the coin's current state.

  3. Confirm

    Approve the transaction. The change applies immediately.

01When is pausing justified?

An active exploit, a compromised integration, or a launch misconfiguration you are fixing right now. Anything less and the reputational cost outweighs the benefit.

02Does pausing stop trading on DEXs?

Yes. Swaps are transfers, so pools holding your coin stop functioning until you resume.

03Can I remove the pause capability?

Destroying the capability object disables pausing permanently, in the same way burning a TreasuryCap permanently disables minting.
